It’s a brooding and introspective piece: like Hamid, this is a film that is torn between burying pain and exposing it for all to see.

Ghost Trail is best when it’s playing like a pulpy spy movie, drawing on the encounters where the audience is party to information that the characters aren’t.

At the genre level, the movie is riveting. It also feels freighted with something darker.

Based on various true stories, this is a carefully plotted and slow-burning film about the cost of justice and whether it's wiser, or indeed possible, to move on.
