Max, Min and Meowzaki

There is an earnestness in this film that propels it past its clunky parts.

The Max-Min conflict initially feels a little too talky, not enough feely. But the film rescues itself by building upon the connections, and gives the characters a few tics...

Although Max, Min & Meowzaki feels stretched towards its finale, 138 minutes are mostly well spent in the company of introspective people.

It uses aesthetics and cinephilia as crutches to offset a lack of depth.
