Junk

The second half never quite lives up to the first half, and the first half feels incomplete as a narrative, which leaves the whole film feeling like a disappointment. Doug Liman’s Go did all of this a lot better, over two decades ago.

Little Death can’t fulfill the ambitions of its intellectual exercise, resulting in a bifurcated film that doesn’t find its footing until the end.

You can see Begert’s intent in the disjointed arc of the film... Yet the whiplash of the structure is just too forceful. In splitting up the film like this every character feels shortchanged, and the relationships aren’t given any time to flourish.

Unfortunately, Begert’s structural audacity isn’t in service to its story or two. A decent story within Little Death is buried behind a tedious one.
