Waiting for the Light to Change

An impressive debut from co-writer/director Linh Tran.

Since the dialogue can feel stilted, the film’s best scenes are nearly wordless: silent surveys of the wreckage of things unsaid.

This award-winning drama has a patient, character-focused script.

Taps into the brutal feelings that infiltrate our psyches when deeply rooted friendships begin to show signs of rot and the way the liminal space between adolescence and adulthood can feel both suffocating and never-ending.
