There's a self-aware humor that makes Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match stand out among all the more adult and older teen-appropriate animated features based on video games and/or multiverses.

The latest Mortal Kombat Legends animated movie, Cage Match, is a weird, neon-soaked Johnny Cage-centric adventure.

Cage Match feels like the simplest version of what it’s trying to be – a goofy riff on ’80s action movies – even when it comes to bone-shattering moves that take down the mightiest interdimensional demons.

... delivering a delightful mystery that starts soft and ends with a series of blood-soaked fatalities. As long as that’s all you’re looking for, you’re going to have a good time.
