A comprehensive look at the history and legacy of the metal band Earth, Even Hell Has Its Heroes is a true achievement of a documentary in every sense.

The best music documentaries work as films in and of themselves, whether viewers approach them as fans of the subject or not. Even Hell Has Its Heroes is among the best music documentaries I've ever seen, because Petersen creates a distinct mood and vibe.

Of most interest to extant Earth fans and the diehard music curious, those so inclined should find much to cling to in this slice of particular musical ephemera.
