Wisit Sasanatieng's insane comedy goes a bit overboard but is quite entertaining regardless.

The Murderer loses the thread somewhere along the way, making all of its selling points feel like minor redemptions. Confusion, not comedy or chills, ultimately becomes the predominant feeling.

On paper, it seems like there would be plenty to like: a decent setup, a clever mystery, and a playful storytelling structure. Unfortunately, however, the delivery of these things in The Murderer doesn't quite match up to their descriptions.

The Murderer is a dark comedy in the same vein as Peter Berg’s Very Bad Things that’s clever while simultaneously being visually ominous and evocative.
