Insolia and Riondino are quite perfectly cast. Their characters have soul chemistry and their scenes together are the film’s best.

While it may not hold up to historical scrutiny, it is escapism at its most elegant.

The dark, atmospheric tone of the film is enhanced by an engrossing storyline and a brilliant acting performance by Tecla Insolia. Primavera announces Damiano Michieletto as a filmmaker to watch.
