Dupieux shares with his subject an obstinacy to forge ahead and in so doing attains a silliness that becomes dangerously close to the sublime.

It’s not a sophisticated bit, but Dupieux’s commitment to illogical anti-humor remains pretty disarming.

The constant trickery eventually becomes a little tiresome. The filmmaker cranks out movies with rare velocity... At least we won't have to wait long to see how he will make up for this frustrating stylistic exercise.

Daaaaaali! might not tell you much about the man it portrays and it certainly won’t have an easy time at the box office, but it is a charming, engaging and intelligent film that cements Dupieux’s reputation as a fearless and highly entertaining filmmaker.
