Critics consensus

“Next Friday lacks the fun of the original Friday. The movie is messy and plotless and relies on unfunny vulgar gags.”

Most of the humor is about as fresh as the air left behind whenever Witherspoon uses a toilet.

Next Friday will eventually be remembered as a disposable farce, but one that leaves a happy memory.

While outwardly amusing, with plenty of scatological and farcical gags, it is an example of the kind of diminishing sequel that the early 2000's would deliver in spades.
