Anna Biller’s first film since 2016’s The Love Witch, The Face of Horror sees the fastidious re-fashioner of cinema’s mid-1960s golden age transplanting a classic Japanese ghost story to 14th-century England.

The Face of Horror may just be one of the best looking films of the year but is let down by pacing issues and underdeveloped characters.
