Mustache

This film takes a beat to settle into its sometimes-overbearing voiceover (by the 13-year-old main character), but once the story picks up, you discover a heartfelt and original coming-of-age dramedy.

In order to enjoy Mustache, you just have to be willing to go back to the awkward teenage years of finding yourself — the often uncomfortable, sometimes profound, and always shifting time when the tickle of a prepubescent mustache can change the world.

Sharply observed and charmingly nostalgic, this tender and heartfelt comedy tackles familiar themes of self-acceptance and teenage angst through a fresh cultural lens.

Mustache proves a heartwarming and inspirational example of the immigrant experience while also just embracing the comedy born from naïveté. You can’t help but be charmed by just how endearing this movie is.
