“King Coal” finds its purpose... as a loose collection of segments covering different aspects of coal mining and culture in Appalachia crystallizes into a statement of hope for the region.

Elaine McMillion Sheldon’s poetic documentary “King Coal” is a lyrical tribute to the place she calls home.

So impactful and important to those both close to and far from the immediate impact of the mining industry. This film deserves to become a centerpiece of cultural discussion for multiple generations to come.
