Despite Pankaj Tripathi's inspired portrayal, the film is reduced to a rah-rah hagiography of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and fails to do justice to his multiple facets.

In short, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's life was larger than cinema. Which is precisely the challenge that director and co-writer Ravi Jadhav is unable to overcome.

Granted the film focuses on Vajpayee but the gaze is perfunctory, an excuse really to outline a glossed over portrait of India pre and post Partition that villanises anyone and everyone who is not Vajpayee and from his party.

Main Atal Hoon could have been a great film but unfortunately, it failed to give justice as the biopic of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
