In a TV series, you would enjoy seeing what dumb thing he has done this episode. But this isn’t a TV series, and as it stands, 5lbs of Pressure falls into the category of a decent rather than particularly great crime movie.

Named after the lethal force behind a handgun’s trigger release, “5lbs” weaves an engaging-enough web of misunderstandings, grudges and doomed trajectories amongst various shady types.

There’s another version of 5LBS of Pressure that’s much schlockier and more embarrassing, though there are certainly some regrettable moments, but Allocco simply skates by, doing the bare minimum necessary.

A decent cast make a fist of attempted redemption, elevating the material through sheer will, but the dirt and the gun oil under its fingernails can’t disguise the simple cautionary melodrama at its centre.
