It’s a twee, theme park version of Englishness, full of antiques and affable eccentrics. While not entirely without appeal, this is a film without an original idea in its head.

Indeed, while Jane Austen Wrecked My Life could be described as a romantic comedy, it’s never especially funny, for all the stumbling and bumbling in the manner of Richard Curtis movies like Love Actually …

This is an intelligent, well-directed, well-acted movie that, at its heart, just wants to have a bit of fun.

Often charming with some excellent situational and observational humor. I I prefer Bridget Jones, but this was lightly delightful.
