Chalk it up to an insufficiently distinctive screenplay and underwhelming plot, but for Travolta, Cash Out feels more like a mercenary case of cashing in.

Cash Out is a paint-by-numbers action-thriller that even with a few intriguing ideas is sadly so anemically paced and rudimentarily plotted it runs out of steam before it has the chance to pick up even a modicum of speed.

At 70, Travolta still exudes a certain movie-star twinkle in the heist thriller, which plays like a solid, B-movie riff on The Thomas Crown Affair.

Director Randall Emmett pulls off some pleasing visual slickness, but he also overuses zippy, high-speed drone shots, which start to distract from the action.
