Critics consensus

“Give Seed of Chucky credit for embracing the increasing absurdity of the franchise -- even if the end results really aren't all that funny or entertaining.”

Calling Seed of Chucky silly is an understatement. However, it's also one of the most radical studio films of the aughts: a distillation of Camp; a piece about performance; and, with both, a self-aware tale of gender.

Installment No. 5 in the once-moribund Child's Play franchise isn't quite the roller coaster from hell that the series' last outing was, but it's surely the most engaging, and, dare I say, emotionally honest.

By far, the most shocking carnage is Tilly carving up her persona. What a doll.

This should have never been made. Jennifer Tilly was wasted. I'm not sure why Redman was there...It's a franchise killer.
