The best part of Puppy Love may be its double entendre marketing tagline: “One bone can change everything.”

Gustin and Hale have strong chemistry that belies their uncompelling characters, although the film’s writing and directing have a kind of forced quality that doesn’t allow them to develop their chemistry to its fullest.

There was no newness in it. I was hoping for more vulnerability in the characters, more drama and more layers which didn’t happen. The story was just too predictable.

An adorable romantic comedy that, while predictable, is still a whole lot of fun. Great chemistry with both the human and canine leads makes it believable and charming.
