Bring Her Back is a rare horror film that trusts its audience to pick up exposition from asides.

[Sally Hawkins] strikes a tricky balance between cuddliness and monstrous cruelty. It’s as if somebody hand-knitted a psychopath -- and it’s one of the scariest things I’ve seen this year.

Bring Her Back contains enough gore to swamp a blood bank. But it also features a performance by Sally Hawkins that may be the best of the year, or even her career,

There is a palpable sense of unease throughout the entire movie that’s punctuated by some of the most frightening sequences we’ve seen so far this year.
