Storyline

During the 1982 Cannes Film Festival, Wim Wenders asked a number of global film directors to, one at a time, go into a hotel room, turn on the camera, and answer a simple question: "What is the future of cinema?"

As a time capsule, Room 666 is utterly essential, providing a unique and telling window into the thinking of major international filmmakers during a period of profound technological, industrial, and ideological transition.

The funniest part of the 45-minute Room 666 is the television in the frame for every segment, often distracting attention from the filmmaker on screen or the viewer. It’s also fascinating how timeless most of their comments are.
