The film takes its time in unfolding its mysteries, yet it charts every moment with an unsettling psychological realism.

The film is an intensely existential tale about our relationship to our bodies.

I was moved and ultimately captivated by the director Arthur Harari’s insistence on treating the loss of identity as grist for tragedy rather than farce, and taken with his leap into uncharted terrain.

There’s seldom a moment you won’t feel wrapt by unease, and by a heavy, lingering sorrow, as The Unknown gets beneath your skin.
