Reworked from Yeon’s comic of the same name (co-written by Choi Gyu-seok), “Revelations” is the kind of layered yet messy adaptation that results from someone trying to find new ways of telling a story they’ve almost thought to death already.

A ponderous picture lacking narrative momentum.

Yeon elevates his co-written screenplay with a controlled, downbeat tone and a consistent string of genuinely gripping scenes.

Revelations is a torrid melodrama, sporting poorly written dialogue, unrealistic characterization, and situations that beggar belief.
