Daayra

Powerful but dry!

...it’s one thing to examine the innards of an ‘encounter’ killing, and quite another to position yourself quite so ambiguously around its legality.

Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra asks whether taking the law into one’s own hands can be justified when heinous crimes go unpunished through failures in the judicial system.

The pacing does dip in a few places, but the central conflict remains strong. Daayra is a serious crime drama that trusts its actors and writing to carry the weight of its subject.
