Winner

Susanna Fogel's surprisingly jovial bio-pic about the whistle-blower Reality Winner fills a conventional format with patriotic outrage.

“Winner,” a sweeping biopic that presents [Reality] as something like an American Girl doll for the “I’m not like other girls” set.

Though it tries to hit on some of the same points as “Reality” and broaden its scope, Fogel’s film ultimately sacrifices depth for breadth.

This is a cutesy, quippy portrait of a complex American activist reduced to a yassified girlboss (and other such things I have no business trying to work into a review).
