Bhumi Pednekar is earnest, and works at making her character believable, but is saddled with basic story-telling, and zero nuance.

Despite the strong actors – Bhumi, Sanjay, Aditya Srivastava, Sai Tamhankar, Durgesh Kumar – the film stumbles on its own strident and uneven tone.

The film's heart is in the right place, but its head presumes viewers aren't as smart as its characters.

Through this figure of a truth-seeking Vaishali, Pednekar reminds us all why journalism must – and will – survive.
