As a document of a physical transformation, the film delivers. As a comedy or romance, not so much.

“YOLO” is a winner of a film: You come out energized and ready to land a punch on life, belly fat included.

A remake of Masaharu Take’s 100 Yen Love (2014), for which Sakura Ando won the Japanese Academy Award for best actress, Jia’s adaptation files down the rougher edges of its predecessor, but her transformative performance is worthy of praise.

YOLO shows how someone can win in more ways than one...this quietly inspiring dramedy hits all the right marks while Jia Ling deserves extra praise for writing, directing, starring in and preparing for this feature - give this lady a medal.
