The film...attempts to revive the director’s signature blend of slapstick comedy and supernatural intrigue. What it delivers instead is a sprawling, uneven narrative that depends heavily on nostalgia while offering little that feels fresh.

Part of the sharpness in the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa came from its modern take on superstition which kept women bound; here it feels like a tired trope which goes nowhere.

Toward the end of Bhooth Bangla, a weeping Mithila Palkar asks, yeh kya ho raha hai yahan. Which was my sentiment exactly!

The interval block of Bhooth Bangla will remind you of a brand of comedy Bollywood once thrived on, but if you overstay, you’ll realise that much like yourself, the film is also struggling to not zone off.
