The intimacy of A Perfect Getaway can be read as Twohy's response to his adventures in mega-budget moviemaking, as can its smartly self-reflexive references to the craft of storytelling itself.

Twohy lets his story's central guessing game play out with patient tautness.

A big-reveal thriller with surprises that really do surprise -- and are worth waiting for through an audaciously long buildup.

Utterly wafer-thin fluff – thinking too much, trying to retroactively fit its twist into the film's earlier moments, or discern motives and intention, will cause the whole thing to dissolve. A Perfect Getaway is a trashy, brain-relaxing treat.
