'She Walks in Darkness’ takes a piece of recent Spanish history and turns it into a tense tale of espionage.

A restrained and competent infiltration thriller, anchored by a solid lead performance. Díaz Yanes builds tension and historical context, but the film’s didactic tone and shallow psychology keep it from digging deeper into its troubling subject.

It feels like a Wikipedia entry with suspense added after the fact.

It feels like the film could be much tighter and have had a smaller scope and could have been something to behold. It is worth the watch, though, if you have a curiosity about this piece of Spanish history.
