The third film from Nathan Ambrosioni is unshowy but empathetic, a sensitively acted study of a woman struggling in a role she never anticipated playing.

A film that recognizes not only the irreversibility of certain decisions, but also the uniquely human capacity to start over.

With a rapt attention to both adult’s- and child’s-eye perspectives, Ambrosioni lets his scenario’s cross-currents of emotion carry the film forward without too bluntly overwhelming his audience.

There are no easy answers in Ambrosioni’s gently unmooring film that stands tall on Cottin’s always impressive shoulders.
