Writer-director Lighton, who adapted the script from Adam Mars-Jones' 2020 novel “Box Hill,” manages to make “Pillion” reasonably explicit, unreasonably funny and altogether charming – it’s a kink-fest you could take your grandmother to.

Pillion is a bold, bawdy film told through small looks and big feelings. It broke my heart and put it back together again.

Pillion does succeed as a first-time love story for Colin, who needs to figure out how submissives, too, can negotiate their own terms.

Gay biker cinema is back, baby!
