What 100 Meters lacks in narrative subtlety and pacing, it makes up for in dazzling visuals. Using rotoscoping, in which animation is traced over live-action footage, the film creates stunningly detailed running sequences.

It’s a great sports movie about the urge to be great at sports, and it’s one of the smartest movies the genre has produced in a long time.

Like the distance its sprinters dash over and over again, it’s predictable—even mundane at times. But also like those short bursts of all-out adrenaline, it can be transcendent in the moment.

...'100 meters' remains a little gem that is completely worth giving a chance to, and we shouldn't be fooled by its visual style, which perhaps deviates from the more commercial anime we may be used to. [Full review in Spanish]
