Its charms aren’t just in its wonderfully loose approach to raunchy comedy and a brief flash of a boob; they lie in the longer reveal of its tender heart.

The only annoying thing about 'Summer of 69' is that this is the exact kind of laugh out loud, emotionally satisfying, share-it-with-a-friend comedy that would probably find a sizable audience in theaters — and instead it’s a Hulu exclusive.

Summer of 69 never gets into truly brash or raunchy territory (it’s more Booksmart than Bottoms), but it showcases the kind of sweet, unlikely friendships that make teen comedies memorable.

A hilarious romp anchored by two great central performances. Sex positive, with great supporting characters and more playful direction from Bell than expected.
