There’s a compelling perspective here where the film might lean into a more incisive assessment of life in this community, but there’s little of that psychological enquiry at work in "Little Lorraine"

['Little Lorraine'] feels grounded. There is tension where there needs to be until, inevitably, the tension can no longer be sustained. The result is an accumulation of choices that, for better or worse, affect many people’s lives for a long time to come.

Urgent and realistic, Little Lorraine’s stranger-than-fiction exploration of economic desperation, loyalty and moral dilemmas succeeds because isn’t just about the crime, it’s about the people.

It’s difficult to decide what’s more compelling in this story: the characters, salt-of-the-earth Canadian miners who were desperate enough to go through with the scheme, or the simplicity and near-success of the scheme itself.
