In Memoriam

It eschews the expected insider baseball bits about the showbiz industry to explore more universal truths about life, work, and mortality and centers on a strong performance from Maron

In Memoriam is a witty comedy/drama about an egotistical famous actor, who comes to terms with what love and legacies mean to him when he finds out that he has cancer. Mark Maron leads a terrific ensemble that can rise above some of the movie's flaws.

It’s as if Judd Apatow’s similarly death-driven dramedy "Funny People" and an episode of "The Studio: are vying for dominance over what this movie really is.

What begins as a clever premise about an actor desperate to secure his place in Hollywood history evolves into a deeply affecting meditation on mortality and legacy.
