The Sword and the Sorcerer is so dominated by its special effects, its settings and locations, that it doesn't care much about character.

…well worth celebrating; fans of loin-cloth buffoonery may come to scoff, but Albert Pyun's The Sword and the Sorcerer delivers a robust, rollicking entertainment that’s a hoot from soup to nuts…endless rewatch potential if you're in the mood...

Nothing could top John Boorman's superb 1981 achievement Excalibur, but say this about The Sword and the Sorcerer: It's a helluva lot more fun than the lumbering Conan the Barbarian.

The Sword and the Sorcerer starts off simple enough and, with the exceptions of the supernatural elements, could be a very plausible story.
