The fact that this is a delirious dive into the demonic that serves as a superb zombie movie just as easily? That’s like the finest sauce for an exceptional feast.

Setting a horror movie in a cinema is nothing new, of course, but I like how the moviegoers in Lamberto Bava’s Demons–these marks, these fools–have been sucked into the freak tent without even having been mesmerized there by an able barker.

Everything eventually comes together in this ballet of violence and zombie gore. Sure, the story is a bit derivative, but it works and its fun, so it’s easy to just go with it.

Using its basic template of people trapped in a theater with the titular creatures, it's able to utilize its wild makeup effects & ridiculous story elements to great effect to deliver a highly-entertaining, over-the-top horror experience.
