This is true of the repulsive delicious, that revels in its sadistic intentions and ultimately fails to deliver on on that promise. It may claim to be one of the more shocking films, but I beg to differ.

Delicious is a film that has the ingredients for a great psychological thriller -- beautiful setting, a mysterious stranger, a rich family harbouring secrets -- but it fails to combine them into anything satisfying.

It plays like pastiche, but one that’s hard to look away from, the darker, humorless B-side of “White Lotus” on a lo-fi budget.

While Delicious borrows its central idea from other films, the increasing dread of the situations creates uncomfortable interactions that lead to grotesque consequences that emotionally and intellectually conflict with the beauty of the shots.
