It’s an intriguing storyline that speaks to the precarious dog-eat-dog situation so many people find themselves in today... The problem in At Work is that this really is the only storyline, and it’s not quite enough to sustain a feature.

Who we write for, and why, is one of many untidily answered questions knotted into this simply framed but mountingly poignant film.

Bastien Bouillon gives an appealingly muted performance, but the film’s principal takeaways about the pain of poverty feel too superficially explored.

At Work offers a hard look at the reality of producing something of value in a culture that prefers quick, easy, and disposable.
