Critics consensus

“Campy and proudly absurd, I'm So Excited! Pedro Almodóvar's return to light comedy isn't quite the successful homecoming that filmgoers might wish for.”

I'm So Excited! is a bit repetitive, but it's unashamedly frivolous and often very funny.

RTThe SpectatorSep 4, 2018

It's thin, banal, boring, unwitty and, if satirical, then poorly satirical, and poorly satire is no good to anyone.

RTReel Talk OnlineSep 7, 2017

A very regressive transition for this Oscar-winning filmmaker.

It may not be artistically stylish to accommodate fans of Almodóvar's more acclaimed films, but the amoral characters and the quick-witted dialogue are enough to shock and entertain.
