The first act does a great job of pulling viewers in. The story keeps them engaged, at least until the true threat is revealed. The third act isn’t held together as tightly, but the ending is satisfying enough.

This is an engaging horror film that could've been a little better.

The messaging is a little heavy handed and repetitive at times, but thanks to its candy-colored production design, evocative sound design, grotesque scabby yellow make-up, and prowling camerawork, Hive is a solid watch.

...based on a short film by the same filmmaker. It doesn’t work very well, which is a shame. The actors deliver good portrayals, and the special effects are good, but the story is too weak.
