The film lasts 89 minutes. What it leaves us with is the anger and guilt of a lifetime, as we experience each minute being lost in the face of bureaucratic apathy and growing danger.

I found the use of raw reality within what amounts to a traditional suspense framework not so much offensive as jarringly misjudged, rendering the craft of Ben Hania and her team beside the point (this includes the actors, however talented they might be).

The Voice of Hind Rajab is sobering, compelling, powerful...This film is traumatic, yes, but it also humanises. Hooked into memory now are a little girl’s pleas. That’s the power of art. Of voice, and of silence.

What was once a child’s desperate whisper in the night is now a roaring voice shaking the corridors of global cinema, demanding to be heard.
