Eloise

A slick but thoroughly uninspired helming debut for veteran visual effects supervisor and second-unit director Robert Legato.

A horror movie of such ineptitude that it invites sympathy for even its least gifted participants.

The plot of "Eloise" is more ambitious than the typical "haunted asylum" picture, but the retro costumes and set-dressing in the flashbacks belong more to a TV drama than a low-budget thriller.

Eloise is pretty standard ghosts-of-mental-patients-and-staff-haunting-an-abandoned-asylum fare.
