You have nothing to lose by spending an afternoon with Netflix’s Nothing To Lose, except possibly a little bit of self respect for having to listen to a synthetic audio description track.

Nothing to Lose starts as a moving drama about pediatric cancer before transforming into an implausible hostage thriller. Here’s our review of Netflix’s latest French film.

This drama has its heart in the right place since we all root for a parent trying to save a sick child.

As soon as the hostage situation begins, it goes into Dog Day Afternoon mode. The atmosphere becomes tense. The pediatric oncology ward feels hellishly claustrophobic. And the uncertainty of which way this whole thing is gonna go truly gets to you.
