It is less a docu-drama than a grotesquely manipulative fairytale -- half Walt Disney, half Lars von Trier.

It's a courageous piece of work but it's so thoroughly steeped in old-fashioned melodrama that it makes you squirm.

Though respectful and subdued when the story requires, Fesser's ironic touch manages to extract humour from a dire situation and in the process, skewer organised religion and its propagation of false hope.

Not a film to recommend unless you have a particular interest in church politics. But an interesting one to talk about.
