A highlight of the 1999 Sundance Film Fest, Jim Fall's charming romantic comedy deviates from mnny gay-themed by not dealing with AIDS or other "serious" issues, instead centering on "simple" matters like dating and getting laid.

But what makes Trick different is that it tells a story that heterosexuals can also relate to.

The director, Jim Fall, treats too many of the supporting actors as if he owes them favors. It's as if he promised them big scenes if they worked cheap.

It’s an accurate snapshot of our big-city gay lives.
