Figuring out Isabelle's character is a compelling mystery, but it would have been nice for Ozon to offer a few more clues.

It became clear, as the movie wore on, that Ozon isn't interested in explanations, psychological insights, lessons, judgments, diagnoses, or any of the other stuff that normally preoccupies storytellers.

This is a different kind of coming-of-age story.

As an erotic drama it has a certain Mediterranean elegance, but I get the feeling that Ozon is not concerned with adding substance to the inane subject matter of youth, sexual awakening and the double face of the power of beauty. [Full review in Spanish]
