I was expecting a silly angst-ridden Gen-X romantic comedy... Instead of an entertaining but benign and forgettable 90 minutes, I got a playful, subversive discourse on gender as a constructed spectacle.

A lesser entry in the '90s genre of talky, Tarantino-and-Linklater-inspired Gen-X babblefests

The result is not an especially good movie, but it has a surprising number of good parts to it -- moments that have a life of their own.

Worth it, if only for Quentin Tarantino's hilarious cameo
