Storyline

When the quiet and amiable Vann Siegert drifts into town, no one suspects the evil that lies beneath the surface. Despite his easy charm, Vann is merely a reflection of what those he encounters want him to be. Soon, as locals start to disappear, it becomes clear that an eerie subtraction is at work in the sleepy hamlet.

Critics consensus

“While its subdued thrills and lack of answers may prove frustrating, The Minus Man delivers a chillingly measured performance from Owen Wilson.”

Owen Wilson, who can look reassuring or not, depending on how much tension he allows into his face, finds the right insidious, ingratiating tone for Van.

Beyond the stylization of the drama, Fancher also demonstrates an ear for poetic language, flat yet flowering, capturing some unspecified damage in each character’s way of speaking.

A powerful performance by Wilson....and believe me, you've never seen him like this!
